When most people think about CrossFit, they think barbells, pull ups, box jumps, sweaty, intense workouts and maybe some high fives and fist bumps. But what they don't think about is the part nutrition plays in the CrossFit methodology. Spoiler alert! It plays a huge part.
In fact if you look at CrossFit's theoretical pyramid (attached graphic) you can see that it forms the base. This means it's foundational to the success of any athlete. In fact, when CrossFit founder, Greg Glassman wrote his seminal essay "What is Fitness" he created the pyramid to show the importance nutrition plays in the development of an athlete. He writes "any training system that does not consider and duly correct an athlete’s diet will be sub-optimal. Long-term training depends upon a solid base of nutritional support."
The old adage "you can't out-train a bad diet" is 100% true. Whatever goal you have in the gym (weight loss, weight gain, performance, longevity, etc) nutrition is the #1 factor in you reaching it.
So how do we cover nutrition at All Level?
We tackle it in a few ways.
- All of our new clients get our 28 Day Nutrition Jumpstart which gives them guidance on what foods to prioritize, portion strategies, and other nutrition and lifestyle habits that you can adopt to see real change! There is even a 28 day follow along challenge that makes it fun to build new habits.
- We talk about nutrition a lot in our classes. We share recipes and ideas. We answer questions and give our own personal strategies when we can.
- We have a dedicated nutrition coach who can work one on one with clients to help them reach their full potential. Our coaches don't preach a "one size fits all" program. They can help determine the approach that be successful for each client. Whether that is macro based, a whole food approach, intermittent fasting and more!
- We run one nutrition and lifestyle challenge per quarter to help clients get focused and on track. These challenges are essentially 5-6 weeks of nutrition coaching done in a cohort to keep you accountable and having fun!
So in summary, we know the importance that nutrition plays in reaching your goals and we have the tools to get you there. If you have any questions or want help with your nutrition contact us by email info@alllevel.ca, by text 226 799 1552 or on any of our socials @alllevelcrossfit
