1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? What got you started?
I've been doing CrossFit for 3 years! My friend, who was an Olympic Bobsledder, said she thought I would be good at it, and one of my goals is to be a firefighter so I thought I would give CrossFit a shot. My friend went with me and I was hooked since!!
2. What aspect of our core values of authentic, driven, and inclusive do you relate to the most? Why?
Inclusion, the gym is like a second family to me. On the days I don’t want to go to the gym I just say “I’m going to go see my friends” and end up doing a killer workout. And being able to workout and hangout with the adaptive athletes always puts a smile on my face. They are such a positive and up lifting group of people, and watching them grow and succeed is one of my favourite parts.
The gym fam always puts a smile on my face.
3. What do you most look forward to when you come to the gym?
Being able to hangout with my friends and working together on new skills and laughing while we do it.
4. What is your favourite memory at All Level CrossFit?
One of my very first classes was with Coach Stephy and she helped me power clean 155lbs and it helped bring me confidence.
5. What goals have you set for yourself in CrossFit that you’ve successfully achieved? What are your current goals?
My dad and I always thought I was too clumsy to do handstands, but now I do handstand walks!!
My goal is to get chest to bars and power clean my body weight!!
6. What advice do you have for someone who’s on the fence about starting CrossFit?
It’s nerve racking but it really is for everyone and nerves just mean you care, so do it for yourself. You’ll improve in so many ways whether it’s your fitness, new friendships or your confidence. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made!!
7. How has your experience at All Level CrossFit improved your life outside of the gym?
It’s made me a more confident individual, I’ve tried more new things because of it and put myself out there in building connections with others.
It’s also helped in my places of work with proper lifting mechanics to prevent injury as a power line lineman and as I start my journey in nursing.
